What is Transaction Verification?

Transaction verification is newly added to the new CoC standard: FSC-STD-40-004 V3:

1.7: The organization shall support transaction verification conducted by its certification body and Accreditation Services International (ASI), by providing samples of FSC transaction data as requested by the certification body.

Transaction verification is the act of certification bodies and/or Accreditation Services International (ASI) verifying that an FSC output sales claim made by an FSC certificate holder is both accurate and matches an FSC input purchase claim by a trading partner.

It is a process carried out by CBs and ASI, which verifies that a transaction bearing an FSC claim between two Certificate Holders:

  • The transaction is identically recorded at both trading parties
  • The transaction is included in both parties Volume Summary as a corresponding sale/purchase
